TECNIC’s pilot bioreactors are designed with a diameter/height ratio 1:3 for microbial fermentation and 1:2 for cell culture. This way, optimal culture conditions are given for both microbial and cellular testing.

These bioreactors are made of Stainless Steel 316L (for the wetted parts) and 304L (for the non-wetted parts) with working volumes of 10, 20, 30 and 50 L. The user may only change the Vessel for a better equipment optimization with a new working volume and maintaining the other parts of the equipment.

Each bioreactor includes pH, pO2 temperature and foam/level digital sensors (also available as optional digital sensors for redox, conductivity, total and viable cell density, biochemical parameters and pCO2.

TECNIC’s pilot bioreactors also integrate magnetic agitation with the combination of Rushton impellers for microbial fermentation and Pitched-Blade impellers for cell culture, a load cell to achieve an accurate weight control, 360º spray ball for the Cleaning in Place (CIP) and Sterilization in Place (SIP) cycles, special additional valves designed by TECNIC and a large sight glass to notice the product status.

To totally control the process, it includes a control unit tower by TECNIC, which has a 15” surface touch screen, gas supply systems and peristaltic pumps too.

The control unit tower also has integrated our TECNIC’s software named eSCADA which is based on a Supervising Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) architecture and allows the management of basic process control parameters up to advanced recipes and report management. TECNIC presents its software in 3 different versions for this equipment: Basic, R&D+ and Advanced (more information in the eSCADA page)
